Description

Please share your biography here so that we can all get to know each other better. I will start:

I am Gary White from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I have been in higher education for the past 27 years teaching at a large national university where I served as the Academic Dean, as well as at a large regional community college. Presently I work with Doctoral students who are completing their research and Doctoral Dissertation. I teach courses in business, marketing, and management at both the graduate and undergraduate levels, and in both traditional and non traditional-accelerated formats. I have a passion for online learning, and have had the distinction of working at the first institution on the east coast to develop fast track and on line adult degree completion programs back in 1989. I was honored to have played a major role in the development, implementation, and teaching of these programs.

Over the years I have authored dozens of curriculum guides for online and on ground instruction. Several years ago I launched a masters program in non profit management that is run in Washington, D.C. What a thrill it is to witness to the excitement nontraditional students exhibit as they stretch their minds to places never before imagined!

I have a master’s degree in Organizational Development & Behavior from the University of Pennsylvania, and a PhD in Marketing & Contemplative Business Decision-Making from Union Institute & University. I have been teaching courses simultaneously online and in person for years, so I can well appreciate the need for planning and organization. Over the years I have made it a point to become quite proficient with the use of available technologies like MS Scheduler, spreadsheets, mobile technology, Palm Pilots, etc. in order to effectively manage the flow of information from multiple sources.

Through my consulting business I have either owned or started many companies over the years. For many years I was the Director of Operations with McDonald’s Corporation in the Philadelphia Region. I always find it helpful to bridge the connections between academic knowledge and business practice in order to cause learning to “come alive.”

I live in suburban Philadelphia where I am a minister in the Catholic Church. I live with my wife, Debbie and our three children who are all now grown and finished college and on their own. We are quite the bustling family. When I have leisure time I like to work in the garden, read, and play with our many pets (dogs, cats, exotic birds). We also enjoy traveling a bit.

Please feel free to call me Gary if you wish. I like to keep the learning process informal and exciting. Never feel timid about asking me questions; I am here for you and to see to your success! Learning is a partnership, a wonderful voyage of discovery that we experience together.

Feel free to add your biography to this thread so that we can all get to know you.
